Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, you’ll discover Lumin No Tox Shop and Spa, founded by a mother-daughter team who proudly call Napa their home.
Formerly known as GC Day Spa for almost a decade, while our initial focus was on being a spa, we sensed there was more we could contribute to our community and visitors. We’ve weathered life’s trials, from fires and health challenges to the pandemic. Through it all, one truth resonated deeply - the increasing awareness of a toxic world.
The realization dawned on us like a guiding light. What this community, and indeed the world, needed was a space where individuals could fulfill all their spa and self-care needs in a clean, detoxifying manner, free from constant exposure to harmful ingredients. Our offerings extend beyond quality massages and custom facials; we envisioned a sanctuary where you could discover safe alternatives for every cosmetic and more, all while experiencing our services with these conscientiously chosen products. Our mission is clear - to establish a space that is less toxic. We understand that not everything can be entirely avoided, but we’re resolute in eliminating what we can. We adhere to the 80/20 philosophy - striving for 80% less toxicity while reserving 20% for those essentials that are harder to let go. The goal is to facilitate a seamless transition. It doesn’t happen all at once, but begins with that one product that’s been urging you for change.
We understand that transitioning to alternative products can feel like a significant step. That’s why we take the time to carefully research and select products, so you don’t have to worry about it. When you visit our shop and spa, know that the products we use, and offer are not only safe but also effective. Choosing us means supporting small, women-owned, family-owned businesses known for their integrity. We’re on a learning journey together, focused on growth and expansion, and we’re excited to have you with us.
The name ‘Lumin’ is derived from ‘illuminate’, perfectly encapsulating our goal. We aim to be the guiding light on your no-tox journey within our community.
Our
Story
Ofelia, a massage therapist with 25 years of experience, is a well-known name in the valley for her healing touch, having gained the trust of many. Vanessa, a licensed esthetician since 2013, was always passionate about skincare and cosmetics. Growing up with her mother Ofelia in the spa industry, she knew right away that this was her path. The two always dreamed of owning their own spa together, united by their shared passion for healing, and this dream became a reality much sooner than expected .
GC Day Spa came into being after Vanessa worked for Gloria Curry, a renowned esthetician in the Napa Valley, as her lead esthetician. Gloria mentored her in esthetics and helped her grow in her field. Ofelia also worked for Gloria prior to this and made a lasting impression. When Gloria decided to retire and pass on her business, she approached Vanessa and Ofelia with the opportunity to take over Gloria Curry Day Spa. Though it felt like a leap, they took the risk, opening their doors on September 12th, 2015. Since then, they have managed to create a successful name for themselves under GC Day Spa. Until now, GC was always someone else’s legacy, but “Lumin” is a perfect representation of who they are—a shining light in the community.
